ABOUT

Costa Rica 2_edited.jpg

Having grown up in several different countries, I saw first-hand the differences in nature between plants, animals, and geography; my curiosity about them led directly to my undergraduate studies in biology in Vassar College, learning about the wonders of ecological systems and how plants and animals interact. My passion for nature then led me to work for non-profit organizations dedicated to the environmental conservation of the Amazon in Peru and Bolivia, where I learned about the importance of the social side in conservation: you cannot conserve an environment without involving local people in the process. I now study carbon storage in the Bolivian Amazon as part of my Environmental Life Sciences PhD in Arizona State University, doing applied sustainability research that will be useful for the conservation of these beautiful and invaluable landscapes.
